  Meet   Kelly Klingman

I'm the proud daughter of third-generation Polish & Italian immigrants, an Astoria mom, and a businesswoman running for City Council against our disgraced, socialist Councilwoman Tiffany Caban.

I’m not a politician. I’m not doing this as a stepping stone.  But ever since Caban was elected, my kids and I began to feel unsafe, as Caban's calls to abolish the police threatened everyone in our community. This is when I decided to step up and run for City Council District 22, my hometown.

We all know the issues far too well.

Since the pandemic, we’ve seen a massive 15% spike in violent crime citywide, students facing unprecedented learning loss & mental health issues, test scores dropping below 50%, and our current housing crisis is both unsustainable and forcing families to leave NYC. Access to achievement, opportunity, and upward mobility for low-income families is dwindling under Caban’s watch in City Hall.

While we face a decline in our quality of life, Caban dedicates her time to obstructing first responders, leading the fight to abolish the NYPD. Instead of working with the NYPD to protect citizens, socialist Caban believes that our police “cause more crime,” and leave us less safe. Caban even wants to remove school safety officers from our schools, despite in-school violence & felonies occurring at disturbingly record percentages. Caban will stop at nothing to abolish the NYPD, to assure her ideological agenda fully overtakes Astoria.

As a working single parent, I understand the struggle of raising kids in areas that lack opportunity. But now, that struggle is simply untenable. It’s time for a new voice at City Hall. We need someone who hasn’t given up yet on making the promise of the American Dream a reality for future generations, or for those still struggling to achieve it today. We need someone who is going to restore hope for our community, and truly help those struggling to get by. This is why I am stepping up to the plate, to put an end to ineffective, impractical, and unsafe policies implemented by Caban. I will be a fighter in City Hall, and I will stop at nothing to restore public safety and quality of life to our neighborhoods.
